Should an organisation’s insurance benefits cover Mental Health?

Mental ealth needs and concerns have been coming under the spotlight particularly post the Pandemic, a period which showed us all just how important it is to invest in the strengthening of mental health support structures, and channels of access and awareness. The impact of these not being in place can be immense, especially in crisis situations.

Particularly in the light of the recent Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority (#IRDAI) directive for insurance companies to provide cover for mental illness under health insurance policies before October 31, 2022, in accordance with the Mental ealth ct 2017, it falls to us as leaders and decision makers at the workplace to revisit our structures, policies and approach to employee benefits. It is important to look at mental illness insurance coverage and ensure that each employee is aware of their rights regarding availing of these benefits.
